Reading the scorecards

Each scorecard shows the business’s Google star rating, its review volume, a confidence figure that weighs the rating by volume, and how recently customers have been reviewing. A 5.0 and a 4.4 can both carry hundreds of reviews, so look at the count and the lowest ratings as well as the average.

What does a home security system cost in Albuquerque?

Costs depend on how many doors, windows and cameras you cover, whether you keep existing equipment, the monitoring plan and the contract length. Equipment price and monthly monitoring are separate, so ask for both in writing.

Security installers near you in Albuquerque

These companies serve Albuquerque. TAS Security Systems has a showroom on Carlisle Blvd NE, Thompson Security is on Rutledge Rd NE and A-TECH Security is on Hawkins St NE, while SafeStreets and Vivint list no street address on Google. What to ask before you sign a security contract

How long is the monitoring contract, and what does cancelling cost?
Can you reuse my existing panel and sensors?
Is monitoring done in-house or by a third party, and is it available 24/7?
Do I need more than one app to run the system?
Who installs the system: your own technicians or subcontractors?

Frequently asked questions

How long are home alarm contracts in Albuquerque?

It varies by company. TAS Security Systems says on its site that its contracts have a one-year minimum. Ask SafeStreets, Vivint, Thompson Security and A-TECH Security for their terms and cancellation rules in writing before you sign.

Can I keep my existing alarm panel when I switch?

Sometimes. One TAS Security Systems reviewer says the company reused every element of an 18-year-old ADT Ademco system and added an app, a cellular communicator and a doorbell camera. TAS also says on its site that it does not sell equipment only it can service. Ask any installer whether it will work with your current panel.

Which of these companies offer 24/7 monitoring?

SafeStreets’ site describes 24/7 monitoring and ADT-monitored systems. Thompson Security’s site promises 24/7 protection and lists an Alarm.com monitoring station. TAS Security Systems describes UL listed monitoring on its site. Confirm the monitoring plan, and who handles the calls, in your quote.

Are any of these better suited to a business than a home?

Reviewers of Thompson Security and A-TECH Security mostly describe business and building installs, including an access control system, business cameras and a multi-location upgrade. Both list residential work too, so ask for home references.

The bottom line

SafeStreets Home Security Albuquerque is a sensible first call on its 5.0 and review base, with TAS Security Systems the local shop to call if you want to upgrade an older alarm. Read the lowest-rated reviews for any company you shortlist, and get the monitoring contract terms in writing.
