Where the numbers come from

Every score is built from public Google data: the live star average, the number of customers behind it, a confidence weighting and the recency of reviews. Project types come from customer reviews and each company’s own site. No business can pay to change the numbers.

How general contractors price a job in Austin

Reviewers here rarely give figures, so this page has no cost table. General contractors generally price by the scope and number of trades, the materials chosen, how much sits behind existing walls and roofs, and the permits involved. One Palm Construction Inc reviewer says their quote wasn’t the lowest but felt fair for the finish, which is a reminder to compare what is included.

Offices and service areas

Their Google profiles show Austin offices on N Capital of Texas Hwy, Cameron Rd, Guadalupe St and Chevy Chase Dr, and Rockin Remodeling serves the area from a service-area listing. If you’re looking for a general contractor near me in Austin, every card carries directions or a phone number where one is listed.

What to ask a general contractor first

  • Who is the day-to-day project manager, and how do you keep me updated?
  • Which trades are your own crew and which are subcontractors?
  • Is your bid fixed-scope, and how are change orders handled?
  • Which permits does my project need, and who pulls them?
  • Can I speak to a past customer with a similar project?

Frequently asked questions

Do Austin general contractors build decks and patios as well as remodel interiors?

Several do. Palm Construction Inc reviewers had decks built or rebuilt, including one with an enclosed patio, and an ATX Construction & Remodeling customer had a patio replaced with pavers and a screened porch added. Ask to see exterior projects similar to yours.

Who actually runs the job day to day on these projects?

Reviewers name the person. At Palm Construction Inc a supervisor kept up with every step, at Teamwork Home Designs it was a named project manager, at ATX Construction & Remodeling the project manager oversaw day-to-day work, and Rockin Remodeling reviewers credit Carlton with handling scope and bid changes. Ask who that person is before you sign.

Do these general contractors work outside Austin city limits?

Some do. Rockin Remodeling’s site lists Round Rock, Georgetown, Cedar Park, Leander, Lakeway, Westlake and Pflugerville, and a THA Construction & Remodeling customer had a bathroom rebuilt in Leander. Confirm coverage for your address when you call.

What if my project begins as a water-damage repair?

That is how one THA Construction & Remodeling customer’s Leander bathroom began, and it became a full renovation. Before you decide, ask whether repair and rebuild are priced together and how insurance paperwork will be handled.

A shortlist approach

For a deck or exterior build, start with Palm Construction Inc. For several trades under one project manager, ask Teamwork Home Designs, and for a whole-house remodel or conversion, ask THA Construction & Remodeling. Request a written bid with a stated scope from at least two firms.
