Shek O Country Park
Shek O Country Park spans the southeast of Hong Kong Island, home to the well-known Dragon's Back ridge trail as well as Big Wave Bay beach and the historic Shek O headland. The park connects three linked trail sections, from Tai Tam Road down to Big Wave Bay, with sweeping views over Stanley, Tai Tam and the outlying islands along the way.
What people praise
- Dragon's Back is widely regarded as one of Hong Kong's most scenic yet accessible ridge walks
- Dirt trail sections offer a break from the paved stairs common elsewhere in the city
- Big Wave Bay at the end gives hikers a beach and surf spot to cool off
Worth knowing
- A well-known trail, so popular weekend time slots can mean sharing the ridge with a crowd
Our take: By far the most-reviewed trail on this page, and a strong 4.4 average. The default recommendation for a first proper hike in Hong Kong.
