Our take: A practical choice for chain link, gates and straightforward replacements. Ask for photos of recent jobs because there is little on its own site.

How the scorecard works

Every number on this page is taken from public Google data on the date shown. Rating is the live Google star average. Review volume is how many customers have rated the business, compared with other fencing contractors serving Philadelphia. Confidence weighs the rating by that volume, so a 4.8 from hundreds of customers carries real weight. Recency reflects how recently customers still leave reviews. No business can pay to change these numbers.

What drives the price of a fence

Reviewers call prices reasonable or fair without giving figures. What moves a fence quote is the material (vinyl, aluminum, wood or chain link), the length of the run, the number and type of gates, whether an old fence has to be removed, and how hard the yard is to reach. One reviewer got five estimates and another a second quote, which is a good habit.

Where these installers are based

The fence companies here work from Woodbury, New Jersey, Willow Grove and Hatboro in Pennsylvania, plus a service-area business with no street address. Mainstreet Fence’s site names Philadelphia, Montgomery, Bucks, Delaware and Chester counties as its areas. If you are searching for fencing contractors near me, call first and confirm the crew works in your neighborhood.

Questions to ask a fence installer

  • Which fence material do you recommend for my yard, and why?
  • Will you remove and haul away the old fence, and is that in the quote?
  • How will you handle a narrow side yard or limited access?
  • Who talks to my neighbor if the fence line is shared?
  • Is the estimate itemized and in writing, including any gates?
