A gas fireplace that won't light on the first cold night of the year is not a wait-and-see problem. Fireplace services in Sydney cover very different jobs, from gas fitting and flue swaps to chimney sweeps clearing a decade of soot, and the businesses below have racked up more than 800 reviews between them at an average that barely dips under 4.9. That tight cluster means the real decision is not who does good work, it's who actually handles your kind of fireplace.

Short answer: For most gas and wood fireplace jobs in Sydney, The Heater Man is the strongest all-round call, rated 4.9 across 459 reviews for gas fireplace installs, servicing and repairs. If it's specifically chimney cleaning or a stuck flue, Eco Aircon Cleaning and The Chimney Guys are both rated 5.0 with over 150 reviews each. Expect a service or clean to run roughly $400 to $600 based on jobs mentioned in reviews.

The Heater Man

4.9459 Google reviews

The Heater Man runs out of Rozelle and specialises in gas fireplaces and home heating, covering supply, installation, servicing and repair of gas, electric and wood fireplaces alongside hydronic and underfloor heating. The business also handles hot water systems and continuous flow units, so it's set up as a one-stop shop rather than a single-trick outfit. Reviewers describe full-scope jobs, coordinating electricians and painters through a single point of contact rather than several separate trades.

What people praise

Coordinates the whole job, including electrical and painting touch-ups
Technicians explain the work and communicate clearly before and after
Consistently described as clean and tidy on-site
Same technician often returns for follow-up service

Worth knowing

Best suited to gas systems rather than pure wood-burning chimney work

Eco Aircon Cleaning

5.0165 Google reviews

Eco Aircon Cleaning is primarily an air conditioning cleaning business that has expanded into chimney sweeping, positioning itself around a mess-free, health-focused clean rather than repair or installation work. Reviews describe deep cleans of air conditioning units alongside chimney and fireplace servicing, often booked together for a rental turnover or seasonal refresh. The business responds to every review personally, which lines up with the hands-on, small-crew feel reviewers describe.

What people praise

Fast turnaround, often within a business week of booking
Technicians explain what was wrong and what they fixed
Good fit if you're already booking an aircon clean

Worth knowing

Chimney work is a secondary service rather than the core specialty

The Chimney Guys

5.0157 Google reviews

The Chimney Guys is the chimney-sweep arm of a broader Sydney property-maintenance group that also runs pressure washing, window cleaning and gutter services under the same brand. The team handles inspections, cleaning, cowl replacement and full flue repairs, and reviewers mention same-day callouts for issues like dead animals blocking a flue. One review even mentions the crew repainting a fireplace surround as part of the job, suggesting some flexibility beyond a straight sweep.

What people praise

Same-day service is common, not the exception
Technicians walk customers through the inspection findings
Clear communication from first enquiry through to completion

Worth knowing

Sits inside a multi-service group, so it's worth confirming a chimney specialist is assigned

Our take: Matches The Heater Man on a perfect rating with a smaller but still solid review base. The go-to if your problem is specifically the chimney or flue rather than the heater itself.

Local Gas Heater Services Sydney

4.9133 Google reviews

Local Gas Heater Services Sydney is a mobile gas fitting business covering servicing and repair of major gas heater brands, including Rinnai, Paloma, Everdure, Rheem, Pyrox and Vulcan, plus gas fireplace and hot water work. Reviews repeatedly mention the team getting old or long-dormant gas fireplaces working again, including in a heritage federation home where two units hadn't run in years. That kind of fault-finding on aging equipment is a specific and useful skill.

What people praise

Strong track record reviving old or long-unused gas fireplaces
Technicians are named and praised individually, suggesting consistent staffing
Mobile service means no need to bring equipment to a shop

Worth knowing

No fixed showroom or premises listed

Our take: Worth calling first if you've got an older gas fireplace nobody else could get working. The rating sits a hair under the top two, but the brand-specific expertise is a genuine differentiator.

EcoSmart Fire

4.854 Google reviews

EcoSmart Fire designs and sells vent-free bioethanol fireplaces and fire pits, aimed squarely at design-led indoor and outdoor installs rather than gas fitting or chimney repair. The company supplies fuel, glass accessories and a trade program for architects and builders, and long-time customers describe buying multiple units over more than a decade as they renovate different homes. This is a different category of business to the other four: a manufacturer and retailer, not a repair or maintenance trade.

What people praise

Products praised for lasting well over a decade with continued good looks
Knowledgeable staff who guide product selection for tricky spaces
Wide range from freestanding units to built-in and outdoor fire pits

Worth knowing

Not a fit if you need repair, servicing or chimney work rather than a new fireplace purchase

Our take: The smallest review base here and the only retailer rather than tradesperson, so it ranks last on volume. If you're shopping for a new designer fireplace rather than fixing an existing one, it's the right stop.

How we scored these

Rating is the live Google average for each business. Review volume measures how many customers actually left a rating, which we weigh against the others on this page rather than treating in isolation. Confidence combines the rating with that volume, since 5.0 from a handful of reviews carries less weight than 4.9 from hundreds. Recency looks at how many reviews are still coming in now versus stalled activity. No business can pay to change any of these numbers.

What does fireplace service cost in Sydney? (2026)

Pricing depends heavily on whether you need a routine service, a repair, a full chimney sweep, or a new install, and reviews only give us a partial picture rather than a full published rate card.

Job	Typical price
Aircon/chimney combined clean	$400 - $600

Figure drawn from a customer-reported price range on Eco Aircon Cleaning’s Google profile (July 2026). Prices vary by job, so confirm with the business before booking.

Covering Sydney and the surrounding suburbs

These businesses work across the Inner West, Eastern Suburbs, Northern Beaches and North Shore, from Rozelle and Bondi through to Chatswood and beyond. If you’re searching for fireplace services near me in Sydney, start with whichever of these best matches the job, gas fitting, chimney sweeping, or a new fireplace purchase, since the right specialist for one isn’t always the right call for the other.

What to ask before you book a fireplace service

Is my fireplace gas, wood or electric, and does this business handle that type?
Are you licensed for gas fitting work, if the job involves a gas line?
What does the service or repair actually include, and is there a callout fee on top?
Can you work on an older or heritage unit, or one that hasn’t run in years?
How soon can you get here if this turns into an emergency?
Do you clean up fully afterwards, including soot or packaging?

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a gas fitting license for fireplace repairs?

In NSW, any work on a gas fireplace’s gas supply must be done by a licensed gasfitter. All the gas-focused businesses on this page are established, claimed local operators, but always confirm current licensing directly.

What’s the difference between a fireplace service and a chimney sweep?

A fireplace service typically covers the heating unit itself, gas or electrical components and general function. A chimney sweep clears soot, creosote and debris from the flue, which is a separate job even if the same company sometimes does both.

The bottom line

For most gas fireplace installs and repairs, The Heater Man is the safest default, backed by the deepest and most consistent review history on this page. If your issue is purely the chimney or flue, call The Chimney Guys or Eco Aircon Cleaning instead, and confirm upfront which type of fireplace you have before booking anyone.
